Japanese Satsuma Koucha(Organic - Benifuuki Cultivar)

Benifuuki was produced by crossing Benihomare, an assamica variety Japanese cultivar designed for black tea with MakuraCd86, a Sinensis variety cultivar from Darjeeling.

The tea is not shaded because the sunlight allows for a higher catechin content and is easily fermented. Due to this, the catechin and tannin of Benifuuki tea are higher and have a significant anti-allergic effect. This applies to many different allergic reactions and diseases, in particular hay fever, allergic asthma, hives, and eczema. Also has the Highest EGCG Levels in all teas!

1. Put 3-5g (1 tsp ) of Japanese Black tea into a Japanese teapot.
2. Boil water to 90 degrees and pour it (200cc) into the teapot.
3. Steep for 30-40 seconds and pour an equal amount of tea into each cup.

When to buy Benifuuki:

Final processing of harvested leaves does not occur- as in normal Green Tea – immediately. Rather, the leaves are normally stored for about 3 months, thus increasing the amount of methylated catechin. The tea is fermented in the dark at low temperatures. Accordingly, it is recommendable therefore to purchase Benifuuki tea from the previous year’s crop. This means, for example, in 2015, one should look to buy tea from the 2014 fall harvest.
